Avoiding high sugar levels more important than ever
You’re being served too much refined sugar!
We live a life with a diet rich in refined sugars, particularly the cheap to use high-fructose corn syrup, and that results in too high sugar levels. The Mayo Clinic reports that there is insufficient evidence that high-fructose corn syrup really is more harmful that other forms of refined sugar, but they definitely indicate that it is wise to limit sugar intake for a number of health-related concerns. In a recent post, Isabel De Los Rios quotes a UCLA study showing that high-fructose corn syrup may actually cause a decrease in the synaptic activity in your brain. This reduces the ability of brain cells to communicate with each other, and that means you become stupider when it comes to problem solving.
Granted, the research was done on rats, but the results clearly indicated that high sugar levels in the rats’ diets significantly reduce the rats’ ability to run a maze. The history of this sort of research on rats is that it can clearly be extrapolated to humans, so it’s likely that when you have that soft drink or slice of cake you are making yourself a little less capable of problem solving.
Conclusion 1: Reduce high sugar levels in your diet
The obvious action to take to improve your health and brain function is to reduce the amount of refined sugar in your diet. But don’t think that means replacing them with one of the chemical sugar substitutes like aspartame. Instead, consider a natural sugar replacement like Stevia. Better yet, start toning down your sweet tooth a bit.
The importance of Omega-3 in reducing high sugar level effects
The same study indicated that Omega-3 mitigated the effects of high sugar levels in the brain. In more and more research studies, the importance of Omega-3 is being clearly demonstrated. It seems to play a critical role in weight loss and heart health in addition to combating high sugar levels in the diet. The problem is that the traditional source for Omega-3 in your diet is simply not as good as it used to be. Now that fish are raised in fish farms instead of in the wild, the high levels of Omega-3 they have contained are reduced. In fact, the Omega-3′s are largely replaced by Omega-6 fatty acids and that is a bad thing. So, the only viable options are to either eat non-farm fish or to use Omega-3 supplements.
Conclusion 2: Take high quality Omega-3 supplements
The way you can ensure you get enough Omega-3 in your diet is to use Omega-3 supplements. There are two rules to follow.
- Use supplements that include only Omega-3 and not other Omegas. The 3 is what you really need.
- Spend a little extra to get high quality Omega-3 supplements.
Expect to spend $40 to $60 for a 180 day supply of a good Omega 3 supplement. You want to take 750-1000 mg of Omega-3 daily, and maybe up to 1,500mg if you are actively trying to shed some weight. One of the best deals available is Nordic Naturals Omega-3.
at a good discounted price.
Reduce high sugar levels in your diet and take Omega-3 supplements and you will have a healthier, happier life.
We all want to change something in order to make our world better so that we can enjoy it more. At this time of year those changes often take the form of New Year’s Resolutions, and right about now some of you are about to give up on a resolution or two. Don’t! The secret is to do 3 simple things to make your Resolutions really work for you instead of against you.
Before going into the three simple things, take a moment to consider the form of typical New Year’s Resolutions. They are things like “I’m going to lose weight.” or “I’m going to start feeling better.” Those are very broad topics. The problem is that these are like someone asking you to shoot at a target that’s “over there somewhere.” You can only hit a target if someone says, “Hit that target right there.” In the same sense you need a clear target. “I’m going to lose 30 pounds.” and “I will make my knees stop hurting.” are much less lofty Resolutions because you can definitely say whether or not you acomplish them. Even so, there is a problem with them. This goes into what can be called The Psychology of Daily Defeats. If you set your Resolution to lose 30 pounds, the fact is that you can’t acomplish that in a short amount of time. It just can’t be done. So, everytime you get on the scale you will say to yourself, “I haven’t lost the 30 pounds yet.” or “I still need to lose 25 pounds.” That means you experience defeat because you haven’t achieved your Resolution… evenutally you give up.
So the second step is to create micro Resolutions. Things you can easily accomplish on a day to day or weekly basis. For example, the lose 30 pounds Resolution can be broken up into micro Resolutions like…
- Find out about glycemic index based eating this week
- Do 1 Vitalogy Recipe this week
- Eat Vitalogy meals 80% of the time this week
- Lose 1 pound this week
These are simply, easily accomplished micro Resolutions you achieve one small thing each week. Then you begin to experience Daily Successes. That reinforces what you are doing.
Many people will recognize this as setting goals and tasks from objectives. Those words work great in business, but the problem is that they are too weak psychologically for personal change. So, the third simple thing to do is to make a commitment in writing to someone you care about for each micro Resolution… and report back to them on how you did. If you make the commitment to lose 1 pound, then report that back.
These three simple steps of
- defining clear targets
- setting easily acomplished micro Resolutions
- making commitments about your micro Resolutions
Will help you achieve the Resolutions that you made.
If you’ve been watching Jesse Ventura’s new TV show Conspiracy Theory, then you may have seen the episode on the Bilderberg Group. If you didn’t see it let me give you a synopsis. The Bilderberg Group is a collection of elite, influential and wealthy individuals who essentially control the world. The are independent of specific governments and are out to create a one-world government. This group was founded in 1954 and membership is by invitation only. Some notable members according to NNDB and/or Jesse’s show include, but are not limited to, Henry Kissinger, Condalisa Rice, Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands, Ben Bernanke, Bill Clinton, Tom Daschle, Harold Ford, Melinda Gates (Bill’s wife), Timothy Geithner, Chuck Hagel, Bill Richardson, David Rockefeller, Charlie Rose and Lesley Stahl. Just from this small list it includes people from government, business and media.
According to Ventura, these people are not only on a course to dominate the world, they are also dedicated to decimating the world’s population. Essentially, they consider you to be less valuable than cattle because you consume “their” natural resources. The plan is to eliminate most of the world’s population by attacking the human immune system by putting chemicals in our food and water and by putting chemicals in required vaccinations that attack the human body.
Sounds like something right out of science fiction doesn’t it. The natural tendency for most people is to think of all this as some kind of conspiracy kook’s idea. After all, who wants to believe that the people in charge of media, business, and government could really be so evil. BUT WHAT IF JESSE VENTURA IS RIGHT?
Why is fluoride being added to water when the science is clear that it is very dangerous? Why are additives being put in food that are known to be dangerous? Why is aspertame allowed to be put in soft drinks when it is a known toxin? Why was the recent bank bailout done in such a way to help only the banks in a massive consolidation and shift of wealth using your money? So is it really an evil plot or is it just incredible greed and the profit motive.
The one thing that should be clear to you after the events in the last year including healthcare reform and the banking bailout is that your government could care less about you. If you are going to make your world better you’ve got to take responsibility and do it for yourself. What do you have to lose by eating organic foods, buying a water filter, and resisting over-medication and vaccinations.
