The 2012 challenge

Today the United States finds itself in yet another round of self analysis about why Representative Gabby Giffords was shot over the weekend. As usual, the far left is pointing to the violence in right wing talk radio and TV and the right is scrambling to dissociate this act of violence from conservative politics. So, again, as a country we turn an incredibly tragic event into a form of intellectual entertainment or, if you prefer, mental masturbation.

The simple fact at this point in time (and it has certainly not always be so) the violent rhetoric is coming predominantly from proponents of conservative thinking. That is not saying that all conservatives are bad or even that conservative points of view are bad… but an example of the bizarre is Glenn’s Becks website condemning violence in one panel while showing Glenn holding a handgun in another panel. We cannot begin to solve the problem until as a country we are intellectually honest about who does use violence as a tool for self-promotion whether left or right. This is not about whether any political group is good or bad. It is about two things.

  • Your yourself not promoting violence in any form
  • You holding anyone who does promote violence personally accountable by taking action to shun them and their activities.

And in the final analysis, liberal or conservative simply does not matter. What does matter is violence or non violence. To that end, J. Krishnnamurti  has said

The crisis is a crisis in consciousness… a crisis that cannot anymore accept the old norms… and considering what the world is now, with all the misery conflict, destructive brutality, aggression, and so on, man is still as he was. He is still brutal, violent, aggressive, acquisitive, competitive, and he has built a society along these lines.

And changing that starts by a change in consciousness that recognizes that the promotion of violence in any form and by anybody is the manifestation of evil in this world, period. In the tradition of Gandhi, Depak Chopra has asked all people to take the vow of non-violence in action, thought, and speech.

So, I ask everyone to watch the following video…

The Process of Change
The Process of Change

The change for 2012 is a change in consciousness. The question is how we actually bring about that change. I attended a workship presented by Keith Cunningham. One of the topics discussed was the process for change. Consider the following diagram at the right.

For change to occur in any human being, one of the sides of the triangle must change. Recalling high school geometry, if one side of a triangle changes, then the other two sides of the triangle must also change by necessity.

A change in Thought means changing either what you think about or how you mentally approach a given subject. For example, if you perceive yourself as a victim in some particular arena and change that to think about how you can take control of the situation then you will cause change.

A change in Focus means changing what you are giving your attention to. For example, if you own a business and are focusing on the day to day operation of the business, then if you start to focus on the growth of the business the business will change. In your personal life if you are focusing on the negative aspects of say losing money in the stock market, then changing your focus to see how you can increase your income will change your life.

A change in Physiology means literally a change in the state of your body. If you have allowed yourself to get out of shape, or if you are a couch potato, or if you are sick, or if it hurts every time you move then changing the state of your body will change your life.

Extend the last example a bit and you will see how this really works. Set your commitment to yourself to change yourPhysiology. Let’s say you determine that you are going to tone up your body. In order to do that you need to change your Focus and begin to look for ways that you can actually accomplish that. Maybe you select a program likeVitalogy. As you focus on the program, then your Thoughts about what “toning up your body” and “getting in shape” actually means and how it can be accomplished. Before long, your Physiology will actually begin to change and that will reinforce  the changes in both Thought and Focus.

That’s a practical way you can change those daily defeats into successes.

David Wilcock

David Wilcock

Those of you who watched the David Wilcock video in the last post might have been intrigued by the idea that in the black ops project called Looking Glass (no, not the Sun Microsystems computer display project) it was proven that consciousness could alter time. For those who didn’t view the video, isn’t that statement enough to peak your curiosity?

Let’s carry that one step further. If, as David suggests the people who are really running the show on this planet are aware of the research at Looking Glass, then isn’t it curious that so much negative media is surfacing about the end of the world in 2012? Why is the mass consciousness being polluted with this kind of doomsday imagery?

To make the world better, each of us must lift our consciousness to move the planet in the direction of positive possibilities that can come out of the upcoming December 21, 2012 crisis point.

There’s another interesting idea from David’s video that is critical. That is that you must realize the true nature of your self. Unlike Christianity, Buddhists believe humans are born perfect and are corrupted by the Three Poison Minds of Anger, Greed, and Ignorance. In this sense ignorance is really ignorance of the true nature of ourselves as spiritual beings. As Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe said, “As soon as you trust yourself you will know how to live.” And I would add to that “As soon as you know your true nature you will trust yourself.”
